Self Addiction, the debut single from industrial-rock act Common Man Down will be released February 15th, 2011 via Bit Riot Records. The 7 song digital single focuses on the arrangement, hooks, and nasty sound design of the original gritty dance-floor track Self Addiction. This release is just a sample of whats to come from CMD, their full length Self Bondage will drop later this year.

Common Man Down vocalist, Jordan Davis hand-picked artists whose styles span across the electronic genre. Everyone chosen to remix, rearrange, destroy, and manipulate were chosen for their distinct vision and ability to take Self Addiction in a unique direction that promises to please multiple crowds. Artists include Tom Napack (Vanity Police/Dangerous Muse) with an old-school/lofi/industrial vibe, there’s a dubstep/dance rendering from Ryle, an energetic approach from Cyanotic, Orvtronixxx with a dark-electro hit, and Erektor with noise-induced crushing mayhem.

Also included on the single is a minimal, stripped down, electro perspective of the song by Common Man Down called “Relapse“.

Though it might be hard to even consider the possibility of Bit Riot’s 2010 release schedule getting any better, we are thrilled to announce that we’ll be releasing the new Be My Enemy album This is the New Wave on Oct 26th!

For those of you not already acquainted with this band, Be My Enemy is the solo project of Phil Barry, the other half of the British techno/metal outfit Cubanate. Since the bands last release in 1998, some fans of Cubanate may have been wondering where Phil Barry has been. We can assure you he has been busy, mostly with releases in the Techno and Breaks scenes (i.e. ‘Freak Frequency‘ by Vigi and Flip / ‘Swarm‘ by String Theory)… until now.

In 2008, Barry started recording tracks for Be My Enemy’s debut album This is the New Wave and picks up where he left off to create exactly what his debut album title promises to be the defining new wave of techno/ rock music.

The title track ‘The New Wave‘ was the 1st song recorded for the album. This song is about project creator, Phil Barry, starting a new phase of music, a change in direction but also a return to the style he made with Cubanate. Influenced by metal, punk, breakbeat, and old school rave music BME is a mix of musical energy dubbed “Ravemetal”, that fans can dance, mosh and stage dive to. Phil says, “This album begins a new phase for me now I am the frontman as well as the guitarist and the producer. I had as much fun making this album as any in my career mashing all the elements of my favorite styles of dance and rock music together. I’m very excited to be a part of the Bit Riot family which is THE record label in the USA for guitar driven electronic music.”

This is the New Wave serves as a triumphant return for Phil Barry and yet another groundbreaking release for Bit Riot Records.

Eric Dusik, owner of Bit Riot Records, comments on the newest addition to their roster. “As a lifelong fan of Cubanate and Phil Barry, it is just amazing to have a chance to work together on releasing Be My Enemy in North America. This Is The New Wave is exactly the kind of genre bending hard driven record that you would expect from a producer like Phil and that is what we dream about here at Bit Riot – a record for fans off Industrial, Rave, Metal and everything in between.”

This is the New Wave will be available via Bit Riot Records October 26th, 2010.

Chicago’s Bit Riot Records has hooked up with the creators of indie Horror film, Afterparty Massacre and added 5 Electro/Coldwave/Noise/Metal artists from their roster to the film’s already intense soundtrack.

Giving a new twist to horror, the Afterparty Massacre, brings metal, blood and gore back to the screen with Cyanotic, Defcon, Everything Goes Cold, Left Spine Down and Torrent Vaccine helping to complete the soundscape for scenes throughout this blood soaked motion picture.

Written by Kristoff Bates (Horrormerch.com/Spookygirls.com) and Kyle Severn (Incantation/Acheron), Afterparty Massacre is one killer party with mind-blowing amounts of music, blood and flesh!

If you haven’t heard of Afterparty Massacre, here is a quick note to sum up some of the chaos that has taken place while filming from co-director Kristoff Bates.

“We had a party – cut off arms with a power saw, slit some throats, bashed a girls head in with a double ended dildo, cut off a leg, sledge hammered a vibrator through a girls head as her head then vibrated on the floor. Then we had another party – killed a stripper, cut off a leg, bashed someones head in with a hammer and drove around a bunch trying to get all of this together… it’s definitely been a long 4 months, even for independent movie shooting… and we still have more to go!”

Kristoff continues with details about the actual release date, “Summer 2010 was a bit too close for us to film, edit and press this movie. But we are currently working on a full spring 2011 tour with Incantation and we still have our distribution into Best Buy. So we are definitely going to take our time to make a movie and packaging that you will be able to pick up come spring! So keep on the look out for tour and release date info!“

Look for the Afterparty Massacre movie in Spring 2011!

Mark your calendars and set your electronic alerts to stun because on July 6th, 2010 Bit Riot Records will unleash the best electronic metal album of the last ten years, The Medication Generation, from Chicago’s genre-fusing techno-metalists Cyanotic.

A conceptual effort, The Medication Generation is based on the making of the album itself, exploring the lives of Cyanotic and those around them, as seen through the eyes of frontman Sean Payne over the past three years. Twisting between cycles of self-destruction, over-stimulation and moments of clarity polluted by mass media and present day society The Medication Generation seems to have zero boundaries.

“Watching Sean craft this album over the last three years has been an amazing process,” shared Bit Riot label owner, Eric Dusik. “Every song has been meticulously crafted, revised and then molded into the coolest sample-laden, glitched-out industrial metal I have ever heard. Sean has poured himself into this album like never before and once Jamie came on board everything just came together. I am comfortable in saying that this is one of, if not the best, electronic rock/metal records in the last ten years.”

Cyanotic frontman Sean Payne along with producer and close friend Jamie Duffy (of Acumen Nation / DJ? Acucrack) challenge audio limitations — implementing elements of grindcore, electronica, metal, drum & bass and ambient industrial with vocals ranging from a fierce growl to a hushed whisper. The heavy, syncopated riffs of “Sentient” and “Dose Responsive”, the dancefloor-ready beats of the anti-scene anthem “f@5h10n v1k+um5” and the pervasive audio samples that create Cyanotic’s sonic ADD make The Medication Generation a defining record for heavy electronic music.

After years of carefully carving out their sound, Cincinnati-based industrial project Common Man Down signs to Chicago’s Bit Riot Records.

Vocalist Jordan Davis had this to say about the signing: “We’re excited to be on a label that is as passionate about their artists as we are about our music. We’re looking forward to the future and working with Bit Riot Records on our first release. We feel right at home in the Bit Riot family.”

Formed by front man Jordan Davis in 2007, CMD employs dystopic atmospheres, mechanical beats and traditional organic musicianship to create uniquely pop sensible songs. Marked by a passion for arrangement and sound design, Common Man Down are part of a rich musical tradition in modern industrial music. No where are CMD’s talents as succinctly exemplified as on their first single and standout track ‘Self Addiction’ which can be heard at http://www.myspace.com/commonmandown.

Unwilling to be defined as a studio project alone, CMD delivers an intense level of energy on stage. Aided by the introduction of new unrestrained band members Ian Willemin, Mike Wiley, and Andrew Roberts, this powerful and memorable lineup has allowed the band to share the stage with notable acts such as Slick Idiot, Black Veil Brides, & Komor Kommando in the last few months.

The debut album titled, Self Bondage, is an emotional ride for the listener as they dwell into several subjects ranging from masochism to politics. Self Bondage is scheduled to drop via Bit Riot Records Summer 2010.

Common Man Down promises to pack an unforgettable punch.

Chicago, IL / San Francisco, CA – September 25th, 2009 – AS THE GRIM LIGHT OF THE WINTER SUN SLOWLY APPROACHES AN UNCARING AND UNCOUTH NORTHERN HEMISPHERE, they who would quench their thirst for rhythm only by the oppressive blanket of the more temperate seasons will steel themselves away as the grizzly bear hibernates. As the Summer lifeguards return to their altruistic work at the asbestos factory. As empty as the parking lot where the air conditioning salesman once hawked his snake oil wares.

ALL THIS WE SEE. We watch, and we crack our knuckles and stroke our great beards and share a haughty, disdainful laugh. For we are ready.

DECEMBER 15, 2009.

THE ICE BRIGADE ATTACKS.

THE FRIDGE BECOMES SELF-AWARE.

DEEP WITHIN WINTER’S ICY SHADOW, LURKS A TERROR NEVER KNOWN BY MAN OR APPLIANCE.

EVERYTHING GOES COLD VS. GENERAL FAILURE.

GET READY TO TASTE THE FRIDGE, JERKS.
